Biodex Unweighter

Patients recovering from injuries that seriously limit their ability to walk are rehabilitated with Biodex’s Unweighter rehabilitation equipment, which can support up to 500 pounds. Because it has four sets of wheels, this device was designed to interact with treadmills or enable patients to walk freely around a rehab facility under the supervision of the physical therapist. The uniquely offset position of the vertical support post provides patients with unobstructed visibility. This feature also introduced structural challenges which were analyzed by our team by applying sophisticated finite element analysis. Our calculations were tested and verified as illustrated in the photos. After the structural analysis was performed, numerous concepts were created offering Biodex a wide range of aesthetically appealing and ergonomically optimized design alternatives.
